Our Search Process

A Partnership with Your School

Our Senior Associates tailor each leadership search to the particular requirements and wishes of the individual school. We believe the key to success is the development of a strong partnership between our team of consultants and the school search committee, with particular emphasis on open and responsive channels of communication.

Our typical process includes the following stages, which will be elaborated on in a full proposal and which can be further adapted to your specific needs and requests:

Laying the Groundwork

In this phase, the Search Associates consultants gain a strong understanding of the school, its history and culture, role in the community, current context (strengths, opportunities, challenges), and expectations for the position to be filled. We then work closely with the school search committee to develop a position announcement, application procedures, and search process/ timeline.

Identifying Top Talent

Search Associates mounts a full-scale outreach effort using our extensive global networks, targeted media options, and our own website, which attracts as many as 60,000 visitors every month.

Application Review, Screening and School Site Visits

Search Associates receives and reviews applications, screens promising candidates, and helps the school search committee narrow the candidate pool. We consult as needed on further aspects of the selection process, including interview questions, competitive compensation packages and negotiation of contracts, finalist school site visit schedules and protocols, reference checking guidelines, final decision-making, and communication.

Announcement of successful hire/ transition

Once the new leader has been selected, Search Associates can assist with announcing the appointment to key stakeholders and can consult on elements of a smooth transition.
