In our ongoing mission to meet the needs of international schools, educators, and administrators, Search Associates (SEARCH) hosted two virtual fairs targeting vacancies in Latin America and China this November 19-20.
Latin America Virtual Fair hosts Senior Associates Jen and Bob Imholt facilitated an event for 200 candidates from over 30 countries around the world and 26 schools with over 200 openings. During the fair, fifteen participating schools hosted informative and interactive Q & A sessions, and SEARCH Executive Assistant Barb MacPhie presented the informational session “Moving Overseas.”
At the same time, the Beijing Virtual Fair, hosted by Senior Associate Xiaohang Sumner November 19-20, facilitated 800 interview requests by 35 participating schools. Keenly interested in the greater China region, 150 candidates representing 40 different countries joined the event. So far, 200 interviews have taken place, and over 200 interview requests are still under consideration by schools, indicating a high demand and efficiency rate for an online recruitment fair. Xiaohang adds,
Although we would all prefer to have face-to-face meetings with recruiters at an in-person fair, I still think it was quite amazing that the Beijing Virtual Fair could bring so many people together over a weekend.
Xiaohang’s thoughts were confirmed by Interim Head of Faculty, Keystone Academy, Beijing, Kelli Sanchez:
I loved the Beijing Virtual Fair. We might be spinning our wheels for weeks reaching out to candidates who may or may not actually be interested in coming to China, so a fair focused just on China meant that all of the candidates were in our market. We hired one person from Beijing and the others were from outside of China, so I’m happy that we’ve been able to maintain our focus on a globally diverse faculty through these hires.
Candidate Charles Karuri, from Kenya, had this to say:
Beijing was to a large extent an ideal recruitment fair. It was really well-organized, with an easy-to-use portal that provided details of all schools a candidate would want to review in China and the surrounding region. Interviews were easy to access and plan through the portal. This led to a near face-to-face experience for candidates and interviewing schools. The fair organizing team was exemplary in all ways ensuring an out-of-this-world experience accompanied by tangible results through various offers received during the week.
In these on-going challenging times, the regional virtual fairs have offered opportunities for candidates and school recruiters, who would have otherwise been unable to travel, to connect.
We invite you to visit our Job Fair Schedule to see the great number of exciting upcoming fairs—both in-person and virtual—available from now until May 2023.
