Dear Colleagues,
On behalf of the Board of Directors of the American School of Yaoundé (ASOY), Cameroon, I am pleased to announce the appointment of Ms. Shireen Appana as AOSY's next Director to commence in August 2025.
Shireen joins the ASOY community from the International School of Lusaka, Zambia, where she is the Primary Principal. She has held previous roles as Academic Coordinator and Advisor for Crawford International Schools in Johannesburg, South Africa, International Founding Principal of Nord Anglia School in Nantong, China, Primary Principal of the United Nations International School in New York City, USA, and the Primary Principal of Bonn International School in Germany.
Shireen holds a Masters in International Education and a Bachelor of Education from University of Natal in Durban, South Africa, as well as a Bachelor of Arts from University of South Africa in Pretoria.
Shireen shared with the ASOY community that her educational philosophy “centers around collaboration, respect, diversity, and empowerment. By nurturing a vibrant school culture, I believe we can inspire both educators and students, ultimately leading to enriched learning experiences and success for all stakeholders.”
