On behalf of the BBIS Search Committee and the Supervisory Board of Berlin Brandenburg International School (BBIS), Berlin, Germany, we are pleased to announce that Mr. Mark Hardeman has been appointed as the next Director of BBIS effective August 1, 2023.  Please find the announcement from the Chair of the Supervisory Board of BBIS, Dr. Frank H. The Board of Berlin Brandenburg International School is pleased to announce the successful outcome of the search process for a new Director of BBIS commencing on August 1, 2023.  

The Board is very happy to announce that Dr. Mark Hardeman has enthusiastically accepted the offer to become the new Director of BBIS as of August 1^st, 2023. After working in Canada, Kuwait, Abu Dhabi and Beijing, Mark has been the Director of the International School of Tanganyika in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania since 2017.  Mark, his wife Megan, his daughter Sydney and his son Samuel are delighted to move to Berlin and to be part of the wonderful community of BBIS.  After all the support of the whole BBIS community and organization for the finalist visit, it was easy for Mark to share stories about the school with his family and to come to the conclusion that BBIS is the right place for their next home.

With this announcement the Head Search process ceases with a fantastic result. The Board is convinced that Mark is the right Director to tackle the challenges ahead for a growing school like BBIS. He will set the right tone to include every stakeholder in the future positive development of the school.

Finally, I take the opportunity to express the deep gratitude of the Board Members of BBIS to all involved in the search process. Without this hard work we would not have been able to convince the strong candidate to become Director of BBIS.
