ISL Director Appointment Announcement

Dear Search Associates Colleagues,

On behalf of the International School of Luxembourg (ISL), we are pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Iain Fish as the new Director, effective August 2025.

Iain is currently serving in his seventh year as the Upper School Principal at ISL. His prior leadership roles include Director/Head of School at the European International School HCMC in Vietnam (2015–2018) and Vice Principal and Head of European Section at the German European School Singapore (2008–2015), where he also served as Head of Secondary (2005–2008). While in Singapore, Iain chaired the Singapore IB Heads Network from 2012 to 2015.

Iain holds a Bachelor of Science in Geography and a PGCE from the University of London, and recently completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Educational Leadership from the University of Dundee. He began his career as a Geography teacher in London before moving overseas in 2001.  Passionate about fostering equitable learning environments and promoting a strong sense of belonging in schools, Iain currently leads the DEIJ Committee at ISL.

The ISL Search Committee selected Mr. Fish from a very strong pool of qualified candidates based on his leadership experience at ISL and former schools. 

Mr. Brian Blanchard, Chair of the ISL Board and Search Committee expressed his confidence in the appointment: “Iain’s extensive experience and deep understanding of ISL will ensure a smooth transition while driving the school’s continued transformation into an IB Continuum School. We are also deeply grateful to Dr. David J. Condon for his exceptional leadership and dedication over the past years in shaping ISL’s Vision and its implementation plan”.  Dr Condon will retire at the end of the 2024/2025 academic year.

Mr. Fish looks forward to serving as the next ISL Director and remarked: “I’ve had the privilege of working in and leading some incredible schools in wonderful locations, and I can say without hesitation that my time here at ISL has been the most rewarding.”  He added, “This is a pivotal moment for ISL, as we stand on the cusp of becoming an International Baccalaureate Continuum School. I am thrilled that we have embarked on this journey, and I am proud to contribute to making this school goal a reality. As an educator, I am deeply committed to nurturing trust, collaboration, and inclusivity within our community. Ensuring that all students, staff and community members feel safe, valued, included, and respected is central to ISL's mission, and I believe this work will only grow in importance as we become an even more open, reflective and ambitious school.”
