The Overseas School of Colombo (Sri Lanka)

Dear Search Associates Colleagues,

On behalf of the Overseas School of Colombo (OSC), Sri Lanka we are pleased to announce that Ms. Ronelda (Nel) Capadona has been appointed as the new Head of School beginning in August 2025.  

Ms. Capadona is currently serving in her fourth year as the Director at the International School of Latvia. Her past leadership experiences include serving as Superintendent at Chiang Mai International School, Thailand, and as the Head of School at Sanborn Elementary School, USA.  Ms. Capadona also served as an Instructional Specialist at the Chandler Unified School District, USA as well as an Associate Professor at Arizona State University, USA.

Ms. Capadona holds a Bachelor of Education from Brighton University, Brighton, UK and a Master of Education in Curriculum & Instruction at Northern Arizona State University, USA.

The OSC Search Committee selected Ms. Nel Capadona from an extensive, highly experienced, and qualified group of candidates based on her significant past leadership experience and her proven ability to empower school communities while bringing diverse stakeholders together around a shared educational vision.  The OSC Board Chair, Aishath Lu-u-Lua Hassan, shared the following about Ms. Capadona’s candidacy and appointment: 

“Nel will bring tremendous leadership experience to OSC, having served as a Head of School three times previously.  She is well versed in the International Baccalaureate, and impressed the Board, faculty, parents, staff, and students with her empathetic leadership, strategic vision, palpable warmth, and demonstrated ability to keep a community on track through various forms of global, political, and economic crises. Building on her proven track record of inclusive and collaborative leadership, Ms. Capadona is poised to provide our community with academic excellence, strategic direction, and operational oversight as we continue to overcome our current challenges and embrace our motto, Compassion. Courage. Curiosity.

We are delighted that she has accepted our offer, and we look forward to her joining the OSC community for the 2025/2026 Academic Year.”

Ms. Capadona is looking forward to her new leadership position and to continue her transformative leadership work at OSC. In response to her appointment, Ms. Capadona shared:

“I am very much looking forward to joining the Overseas School of Colombo and felt extremely welcomed during my visit. I am excited to work within such a united learning community and for us to support our collective learning with compassion, courage, and clarity.”

Moreover, Search Associates expresses thanks to all of the candidates who applied for the Head of School position at OSC and also everyone who was involved in the successful search process.  We wish Ms. Capadona all the best with her new position at the Overseas School of Colombo.
