Check Out ISA International School Guangzhou!

ISA International School Guangzhou (ISA) in China, well-recommended by teachers and affiliates, has joined Search Associates’ directory of excellent schools. Opened in 2014, ISA is located in a beautiful, tree-lined, urban regeneration arts complex, which, remarkably, used to be a fruit cannery. This dual immersion, bi-lingual school provides 140 students, Grades K-8, the International Baccalaureate (IB) Program’s Primary and Middle Years Programs, along with instruction in both Mandarin and English. ISA is in the process of accreditation from the Council of International Schools (CIS) and IB authorization.

Presently, 11 expatriate teachers from the U.K., U.S.A., Australia, and New Zealand work at the school. The People’s Republic of China issues work visas to certified teachers (up to the age of 60) with a four-year degree and at least two years of teaching experience. At the current time, they do not hire teaching interns. They also provide airfare and a moving allowance to newly-hired teachers.

ISA is very supportive to its expatriate staff. The school earmarks 5% of its budget for professional development and welcomes single teachers with children and married teachers with dependents. The benefits package includes worldwide insurance, housing, and a good salary. A single teacher could save $20,000-$29,000 per year, and a family of four could make-do on one salary! The school allows free tuition for one child. Teachers who initially sign for two years are awarded an 8% bonus at the end of their contract. Teachers live in fully-furnished apartments in the International Service apartment complex, where an English-speaking concierge is glad to help.
