On behalf of the American School of Warsaw (ASW), Poland, Search Associates is pleased to announce that Dr. Michelle Kleiss has been appointed as next Director beginning in July 2025.
Dr. Kleiss is currently serving in her fifth year as Head of School at the Overseas School of Colombo. Her past leadership experiences include serving as Head of School at the American International School in Cyprus, Head of School at Asir Academy, Saudi Arabia, and the Middle School Principal at the American International School in Egypt. Dr. Kleiss also served as the Director of the Early Childhood Centre at the American International School in Egypt.
Dr. Kleiss holds a B.A. Ed from American University, Washington D.C., USA, an M.A. Ed from Bowie State University, USA, an EdD in Educational Leadership from Lehigh University, U.S., and a Higher Education Teaching Certificate from Harvard’s Derek Bok Centre for Teaching and Learning.
The ASW Search Committee selected Dr. Kleiss from an extensive, highly experienced, and qualified group of candidates based on her significant past leadership experience as well as her proven ability to build and nurture relationships, to design high-quality teaching and learning experiences, and to empower learner-focused environments while driving positive change. ASW Board Chair Ms. Sarah Kyle shared the following about Dr. Kleiss’ candidacy and appointment:
Dr. Kleiss's leadership will undoubtedly inspire our students, faculty, and staff to reach new heights of achievement and success, all while fostering community. Her leadership will guide ASW as we continue to provide a world-class learning experience that prepares students for success in an ever-changing global landscape. Dr. Kleiss is looking forward to her new leadership position and to continuing her transformative leadership work at ASW.
In response to her appointment, Dr. Kleiss shared:
I am truly honored and excited to have the opportunity to become a part of the ASW community. I eagerly anticipate fostering meaningful connections with the students, staff, teachers, parents, and alumni. Collaborating closely with the Board and the entire community will be a privilege. Working together in a spirit of partnership to create an environment where ASW students feel inspired, nurtured, and fully supported in their growth and development will be my top priority. I look forward to contributing to the school's legacy of excellence and shaping the futures of all Warriors.
