Innovative Education and Community at College Park Academy

Class of 2024!College Park Academy (CPA), an innovative public charter school in the Washington, DC, Metropolitan Area, is inviting passionate educators to join its dedicated team. Serving students in Grades 6–12, CPA stands out for its commitment to personalized education and a strong sense of community, creating an environment where students thrive academically and socially.

Founded in 2011 through a partnership among the Prince George County School District, the University of Maryland (UMD), and the City of College Park, CPA provides quality education primarily to children of color and economically disadvantaged students from Prince George’s County. Despite its diverse demographic, CPA consistently outperforms district standards and compares favorably to more affluent schools across the state.

CPA emphasizes rigorous academics through its personalized learning approach and offers student college-level opportunities in collaboration with the UMD. This unique partnership allows students to engage in university-led programs, receive mentorship, and develop skills aligned with college readiness. CPA’s seven-year enrollment structure fosters deep connections among students and staff, creating a close-knit, supportive environment. Located in the UMD Discovery District, CPA benefits from resources available in this vibrant college community, providing access to cutting-edge technology, public transportation, and cultural opportunities.

TEngineering Signature Program students testing adaptive lacrosse geareachers at CPA enjoy a collaborative and empowering work environment, enhanced by proximity to UMD’s research resources and a supportive community culture. CPA's flexible teaching model includes the U.S. Common Core curriculum with freedom for educators to adapt materials to meet students' unique needs. High school students participate in specialized academic tracks, Advanced Placement (AP) courses, and an extensive extracurricular program, all designed to prepare them for success in a global world. CPA’s AP program has received the College Board’s Platinum Award for excellence, a testament to its academic rigor. CPA also supports a work-life balance, with easy access to public transportation, arts districts, and green spaces.

CPA hires certified single teachers and would consider teaching couples, including those with a non-teaching partner and newly certified candidates. Teachers need not hold their academic degree in the subject they will be teaching. The school emphasizes,
