International School Opportunities in Turkey

Private Kocaeli Bahcesehir KS School, established in 2006, serves a community committed to bringing change to the local educational system, and Search Associates is proud to welcome this member school. The K–12 school is located in a suburban setting, about 10 kilometers from the center of Izmit city. The school facilities consist of a block-long building, shaped like an E, with separate sections for primary, middle, and high schools as well as the kindergarten. The school has completely refurbished the science labs and library and has also recently built a new sports hall. Furthermore, the school boasts arts and music facilities and an auditorium with seating for 300. Though local transport is available, the school offers transportation to and from school to all students and staff. Specialized cooks prepare three meals per day: breakfast, lunch, and an afternoon snack for pre-K and primary school students.

At present, 1,020 Turkish students attend the Private Kocaeli Bahcesehir KS School. Endorsed by the Turkish National Ministry of Education, the school delivers inquiry-based learning and is currently a candidate school for the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme. Of the 120 total teaching staff, 110 are Turkish, and six are from North America and the U.K.

Private Koacaeli Bahcesehir KS School offers clubs and activities for students both during and after school: folk dancing, traditional ebru artwork, theatre, music, basketball, football, sub-aqua diving, and swimming. Students also enjoy the table tennis room and the outdoor tennis courts.  Folk dancing, a vital part of the national and school culture, is featured at most events, and every year the dancers participate in festivals throughout Europe and compete internationally. Students may also take part in community service by joining the social responsibility club, helping in a retirement home, and working at a local school with children on the autism spectrum.

Private Kocaeli Bahcesehir KS School is interested in hiring singles, interns, and teaching couples—married or not—without dependents. The school will also consider outstanding newly-certified teachers. However, all candidates must hold their academic degree in the subject they will be teaching and must be certified—or in the process of earning certification—in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL). Certified teachers up to the age of 60 may obtain a work visa in Turkey.

Benefits include allowances for moving, settling-in, housing, and utilities, in addition to one annual round-trip airfare home. Local health insurance and worldwide travel insurance are fully covered. Lunch and transportation to and from the school are provided daily. In-house professional development will be offered as well as the opportunity to attend IB training or its equivalent.
