International Teaching Jobs at Top British School in Dubai

Search Associates welcomes Kings’ School, Al Barsha (KSAB). Launched in September 2014, KSAB is an integral part of the successful network of Kings’ Schools, founded in 2004 with Kings’ School Dubai, the only school in the United Arab Emirates to achieve an “Outstanding” rating by the Dubai Schools Inspection Bureau every year since inspections began. KSAB adds,

“We are one of the foremost international schools in Dubai and welcome both global and local families into our community. Our academic approach is predominantly based on the British education system, but at Kings' we recognise the importance of bringing successful aspects of international educational culture into our pedagogy.”

Although it is a British school, KSAB has a very diverse student body. The student population represents an impressive 74 nationalities! Currently enrolled are 1,377 K–12 students, with 38% from U.K., 6% from North America, and 4% from the host country. The total staff of 221 includes 165 teachers from the U.K.

KSAB boasts outstanding facilities, from state-of-the-art technology throughout the school to purpose-built science laboratories and suites for design, technology, and art. In addition, there are two performing arts auditoriums and top-notch sporting facilities, including full-size grass rugby and football pitches, a prestigious Cricket Academy, a running track, multiple tennis and netball courts, and three swimming pools, including a full-size competition and diving pool.

KSAB is fully-accredited by British Schools of the Middle East. Secondary school students obtain the General Certificate of Secondary Education and A-Level qualifications, which apply towards the English Baccalaureate. Furthermore, all secondary students at KSAB participate in the Duke of Edinburgh Award program, volunteering, engaging in physical and outdoor education activities, and developing a variety of skills. KSAB has adapted the National Curriculum for England so that it is a conceptual, integrated, and enriched educational experience for young learners living in Dubai. The curriculum is designed to produce happy and successful global citizens.

KSAB offers an extensive program of co-curricular activities before and after school for all children in Years 2 to 6. Year 1 children can join clubs beginning their second term. The wide range of choices covers sports, music, science, and the arts. Some examples include chess, origami, Zumba, cooking, photography, and a Dragons’ Den business club! External providers also currently offer ballet, karate, yoga, engineering, and Lego Club.

Older students take part in activities as diverse as testing aerodynamic race cars at Yas Island Marina Circuit and beach clean-up days. The annual Week Without Walls program for students Years 7–10 emphasizes obtaining new skills and experiences outside of school while building leadership, teamwork, communication, and risk-taking skills. The program involves travel in Dubai and overseas. During previous overseas excursions to Borneo, Kenya, Nepal, and Cambodia, students observed conservation and wildlife preservation activities and engaged with local communities. In Dubai, students have enjoyed kayaking, climbing, mountain biking, and raft-building while studying local ecosystems! Other exciting endeavors have involved creating a film, from script to post-production, and exploring Chinese language and culture.

KSAB is interested in hiring certified, experienced singles as well as married couples, including those with a non-teaching spouse. They will also consider interns. Candidates need not hold an academic degree in the subject they will be teaching. In the U.A.E, work visas are issued up to the age of 60.

The benefits package includes a competitive tax-free salary and a generous annual allowance for airfare. KSAB also provides a tuition discount for dependents as well as professional development opportunities. Worldwide health insurance, including dental, is fully covered.
