Teach abroad at Shenzhen Victoria Park Academy (VPA), a kindergarten through UK Year 9 bilingual school founded by Victoria (China) Education Group in Mainland China. Managed in Hong Kong in 1965, Victoria Education was introduced to the Mainland in 1998 by Dr. Maggie Koong, and soon after the Victoria (China) Education Group was established. Head of Academy of Victoria Shanghai Academy (VSA) Dr. Maggie Koong will lead VPA as Chief Principal.
VPA is located on the north side of Dananshan Mountain in Nanshan District, Shenzhen. Behind campus are two parks, Lilin and Dananshan, making it a wonderful ecological environment for the school community. The campus is connected to the center of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, where high-tech, financial, commercial, and port hubs thrive. The campus is also conveniently located near public transport, just five minutes away from the closest Metro station. It is also easily accessible by car and well connected to the city’s main highways.
Covering an area of 17,555 square meters, campus features courtyard-style architecture that immerses students in the natural environment. The campus is equipped with 36 classrooms and functional rooms, standard football fields, basketball courts, tennis courts, athletic fields, and 800-meter running tracks.
Licensed by the Chinese Ministry of Education, VPA currently enrolls 130 predominantly Chinese students. The school delivers the Chinese National Curriculum along with the IB Primary and Middle Years Programmes. The teaching staff of 30 includes 20 Chinese educators.
To promote students’ sense of belonging outside the classroom and foster friendships, all students are assigned to different clubs and societies. Some of the creative extracurricular activities include Campus TV Channel, Film Society, Chinese culture and music projects, the Mechanical and Coding Society, the Music and Stage Management Society, and more! Students participate in a variety of sports activities, such as football, volleyball, basketball, tennis, and badminton. Starting at an early age, students are encouraged to take part in community service as part of their development as internationally minded people.
VPA hires educators of diverse profiles, including couples with a non-teaching partner, newly-certified teachers, and experienced teachers without certification. The school will also consider teaching interns. Candidates need not hold their academic degree in the subject they will be teaching. As per government regulations, certified teachers up to the age of 55 may obtain a work visa.
The benefits package includes a monthly housing allowance. Overseas teaching staff receive a tuition benefit with more years of service, starting at 50% and rising to 90% after five years of service within the Victoria Group.
