International Teaching Opportunities at Shanghai Hongrun Boyuan School: A Journey of Discovery and Excellence

Experience the beautiful, ten-acre lakeside campus of Shanghai Hongrun Boyuan School (SHBS), located near the ancient water town of Zhujiajiao in Shanghai’s western Qingpu district. Founded in 2018 by a group of life-long international educators, SHBS fosters its students’ personal and intellectual discovery through a rigorous course of study grounded in discussion- and inquiry-based learning. Central to the SHBS community are the values of dignity, honor, respect, and integrity.

The 43,000 square-meter campus is conveniently connected to Kezhiyuan Road to the south, offering easy transportation amidst picturesque surroundings. SHBS’s state-of-the-art facilities include specialized classrooms and resources for physics, chemistry, biology, STEAM, special education, music, art, and computers. The campus also features creative spaces for subjects such as music and piano, handicrafts, painting, pottery, woodworking, robotics, cooking, martial arts, and Chinese calligraphy. Additionally, the school is equipped with a library and media center, a recording studio, a theatre, and various sports and fitness venues including indoor and outdoor basketball and tennis courts, a gymnasium, and a rowing dock. These exceptional facilities support a wide array of extracurricular activities and community events, such as Fun Quiz Show, Chinese Debate, English Debate, Song Contest, and Drama Show.

Accredited by AdvancED/Cognia, SHBS currently enrolls 280 students in Grades 6-12, exclusively for Chinese passport holders as per government regulations. The inquiry-based learning program offers both A Levels and Advanced Placement courses, with about 70% of the teaching staff being Chinese.

SHBS hires experienced overseas teaching candidates, considering both singles and couples, including those with a non-teaching partner, and seasoned teachers without certification. Candidates do not need to hold an academic degree in the subject they will be teaching. Government regulations allow those up to the age of 60 to obtain a work visa.

The international teaching benefits package includes moving and housing allowances as well as annual airfare. Tuition and all on-campus meals are free for dependents in Grades 8-12. SHBS also provides professional development opportunities for its staff along with comprehensive local health and life insurance.
