Introducing British Colombia Canadian International School in Egypt!

British Colombia Canadian International School (BCCIS) in Egypt is now among the premier schools registered with Search Associates. This K-12 school of 800 predominantly Egyptian students is located about 20 minutes outside of Cairo. BCCIS has been certified by the Canadian British Columbia Ministry of Education since its founding in 2005. The teaching staff of 54 includes 44 from North America and 10 from Egypt. One of its main goals is inspiring students to be global citizens. An exciting feature of the curriculum involves travel for each grade level! In a given year, for example, elementary level students might make trips to the desert while middle school students cruise the Nile, and Grade 12 students tour Europe.

While BCCIS prefers married teaching couples and single teachers without dependents, it provides free tuition for teachers’ children. The school does not prefer non-teaching spouses but mentions there are local opportunities for them. Work visas are issued for teachers, up to the age of 64, certified in education. BCCIS is happy to consider outstanding newly-certified teachers with limited experience.

BCCIS offers a competitive salary and such good benefits that experienced teachers can expect to see substantial annual savings. Teachers, whose initial contract is for two years and then annually thereafter, are given a settling in allowance, the value of 25% of their first paycheck. Rent-free, fully-furnished school apartments are offered, but some teachers prefer the annual benefit towards apartments of their own choosing. Most of the staff choose to live in Maadi, the largest expatriate hub in Cairo. Other bonuses include local health insurance, life and dental insurance as well as one annual round-trip flight out of Cairo.
