On behalf of the Hong Kong Academy (HKA) community, Search Associates is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Kasson Bratton as the next Head of School (HoS) of HKA, beginning in July 2024. In his recent message to the HKA school community, Board Chair Mr. Adrian Valenzuela wrote the following about Mr. Kasson’s appointment:
On behalf of the Head of School Board Search Committee, I am pleased to announce the successful completion of our search process. We had the fortune of having three excellent educational leaders visit our campus last week as finalists who came from a pool of highly experienced long-list candidates. Each commented on what a strong and supportive culture of belonging we are nurturing at HKA and were impressed with our community’s commitment to providing an outstanding educational experience for every student.
Our preferred candidate, Kasson Bratton, has accepted our offer to join HKA in July 2024. Kasson is currently the Deputy Head of School and Director of Learning at Nanjing International School (NIS) in China, where he has worked for the past nine years. Kasson’s understanding of the international school ecosystem in East Asia, leadership infusing global citizenship into the curriculum, and commitment to cultivating rigorous and inclusive learning communities strongly align with HKA’s mission and vision for our next stages of development.
Thank you to John Coffeng and Helen Willerton for their key roles as members of the Board Search Committee and to the many faculty, staff, students, parents and leadership team members who participated in the interview process. The Board looks forward to working closely with both Stephen and Kasson to ensure a seamless Head of School transition over the next 13 months.
In accepting the HoS position, Mr. Bratton stated the following:

My visit confirmed my deep belief in the school's mission, the strong foundations already in place, and the potential that lies ahead. I am honoured to become part of this legacy and dedicated to leading HKA into its thriving next chapter.
