After a worldwide search, Senior Associates Ralph Jahr and Julie Ryan are pleased to announce the appointment of Ms. Lara Manasfi as new Elementary School Principal for Lincoln Community School (LCS) in Accra, Ghana, to begin in July 2016.
Ms. Manasfi has held her current position as Elementary School Principal at the American International School Dhaka (AISD) in Bangladesh since 2011. Prior to that, she was Assistant Principal at both AISD and Korea International School in Seoul. Ms. Manasfi taught at the elementary and preschool levels in both Korea and in Lebanon before moving to Administration.
Two American couples founded the Lincoln Community School in 1968. The first eight students attended a building leased in the North Ridge neighborhood of Accra. LCS grew with the early support of the United States Agency of International Development and the Texaco Oil Company. Two years later, the Office of Overseas Schools and the government of Ghana officially recognized the school, and the first board of directors was appointed. The land in Abelempke on which LCS currently resides was leased in 1978. Over the years, the school evolved to a pre-K-12 school whose enrollment surged in 1995, after earning accreditation by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools (MSA). LCS reached full maturity in 2006 when the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) sanctioned the implementation of every level of the IB program ("Explore").
At LCVS, more than 750 students from 60 nations benefit from not only a rigorous education, but also excellent facilities, such as renovated science laboratories, refurbished libraries, and new counseling and communication centers. The school boasts a visual and performing arts center as well as a semi-Olympic pool. After school, students can choose from 86 activities and 16 sports. Search Associates congratulates Ms. Manasfi as she joins the dedicated staff of 68 full-time teachers and 142 administrative and support personnel ("Explore").
