Beijing Royal School (BRS), established in 1996, is now registered with Search Associates. Beijing Royal Kindergarten, Beijing Royal Foreign Language School, and Beijing Royal School collectively form a K–12 continuum that provides a comprehensive education designed to cultivate future world leaders with the international mindset and skills necessary to compete on a global level.
Located north of the ancient Forbidden City and the modern Olympic Village, the 25-acre BRS campus boasts the most advanced educational facilities. While embracing tranquility away from the bustle of the city center, the boarding school remains easily accessible from Beijing’s downtown. The campus is only three bus stops away from the subway, and banks, flower markets, restaurants, and supermarkets are only one bus stop away. The stunning natural environment of the BRS campus makes life joyful for staff and students.
Currently enrolled are 2,810 K–12 students, 90% of whom are Chinese, with 7% from North America and the U.K. The teaching staff of 486 includes 412 Chinese teachers and 57 from North America and the U.K. The school offers a range of curricula with challenging and innovative academic programs, such as the K–12 Global Assessment Certificate; A-levels; the International General Certificate for Secondary Education; and the Ontario Secondary School Certificate. In 2017, BRS began preparations to deliver the International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum.
BRS is approved by the Beijing Municipal Commission of Education, and the high school division has earned candidate status with the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. The school is a Cambridge International Examinations testing center as well as a PSAT and AP testing center. Additionally, the National Education Examinations Authority of the Chinese Ministry of Education has authorized BRS to be a TOEFL iBT Test Center. Of its educational approach, the school says,

Integrating eastern and western pedagogical techniques and resources, BRS creates a truly international educational environment. We use mobile and distance learning technologies to access world class teaching resources from abroad but then adapt them to create an educational experience tailored to each student’s aptitude and individual characteristics, as is traditional in China.”
Students of all ages may take part in an enriching environment where activities, events, and clubs abound. There are clubs devoted to debate, drama, badminton, football, basketball, dancing, arts, comics, photography, the military, robots, design, philosophy, to playing specific musical instruments and of course, to different academic disciplines—such as science. This is not even a complete list!
BRS is interested in hiring singles and couples, including those with a non-teaching spouse. They will also consider newly certified teachers, experienced teachers already in the country who lack certification, and those certified in non-English speaking countries. Candidates need not possess their academic degree in the subject they will be teaching. However, to obtain a work visa, candidates must be certified and under 60. Teachers may even have the chance to join new locations of BRS as they open; the school says,
“The opportunity of working at BRS will lead a greater opportunity for international educators to professional and diverse career path. . . BRS [is] opening branch schools in provinces of Jiangsu, Shanxi and Sichuan.”
