Preparing Entrepreneurs, Futurists, and Visionaries Through International Teaching

Founded in 2019, Beijing Enlighten School (BES) is a bilingual international school that strongly believes in allowing learners to develop their full potential to create a better world. With its humanistic approach, BES aims to help students achieve academic excellence and a global mindset as they learn to care for and love one another.

BES is located in the central district of Chaoyang, Beijing, close to the Red Brick Museum, No.1 Art District, Wangjing, and Whole Wetland Park, and is easily accessible by metro. The school is surrounded by, and benefits from, abundant art, sports, and cultural resources.

Built in compliance with international environmental protection standards, the campus was designed to integrate the Chinese quadrangle and European courtyard, incorporating natural materials and open space. The buildings all have a central air conditioning and filtration system with 24-hour air-quality monitoring.

The teaching space is tailored to meet the needs of national and international curricula requirements. Each unique, open, and contemporary area of the campus provides students with a safe, healthy learning and leisure environment. A maker space supports the practical exploration of physics and chemistry, STEAM, AI, robotics, and other fields. The art space accommodates music, painting, dance, drama, calligraphy, and other creative forms. Public space is designed for sports, reading, rest, and display needs. An amphitheater, Product Design Lab, and IT Lab support the school’s innovative drive into film, photography and broadcasting. For this, BES is considered a Pioneering School.

Through inquiry-based learning, BES prepares students for the future. Strategies and assessments are creatively blended using the Chinese National Curriculum and the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years and Middle Year Programmes. Currently, 50 pre-K-8 students—90% of whom are Chinese—are enrolled. The teaching staff of 30 includes 18 Chinese teachers.

BES provides after-school activities as well as Enrichment Clusters Sessions, research-based activities inspired by the interests, passions, and academic attributes of students. The school is committed to cultivating and educating future designers, change-makers, and innovators grounded in identity. BES says,

We believe that students' interests and passions are essential to engage with the school's learning opportunities. . . We guide our students to be entrepreneurs, visionaries, and futurists with the practical skills to shape the contexts surrounding them.

BES is interested in hiring certified teachers of diverse profiles, including married couples with a non-teaching partner. Candidates must have a minimum of two years’ teaching experience but need not hold an academic degree in the subject they will be teaching.

The benefits package includes a settling-in and monthly housing allowance as well as annual airfare for teachers and their eligible, dependent spouse. All dependent children attend the school for free, with subsidized lunches. BES provides professional development by offering IB training and other workshops, for example, one on Social Emotional Learning. Worldwide health insurance (except for U.S.), including long-term disability, is fully covered. The BES benefits package means a chance for extraordinary savings. There are also local employment opportunities for non-teaching partners.
