This February 1-2, nearly 100 candidates—many seeking first overseas teaching positions—arrived at the right place and the right time: Search San Francisco! Fair hosts Jennifer Imholt and Bob Imholt, who welcomed recruiters from 20 schools, report “hundreds of interviews and dozens of offers,” took place over the weekend. Recruiters commented not only on the high quality but also the diversity of candidates, and candidates like Rahma Y. had a great experience:
Attending an in-person job fair provided invaluable opportunities for direct engagement with the schools, allowing me to make a strong first impression beyond my online profile/resumes. Face-to-face interactions enabled meaningful conversations, instant feedback, and a chance to showcase personality and enthusiasm. Additionally, I gained insights into school cultures, expanded my professional networks with other attendees, and discovered opportunities that may not be on the portal. The ability to ask real-time questions and receive immediate responses made the experience dynamic and beneficial for my own career growth.

For three years running, the Westin San Francisco Airport Hotel has been the Imholts’ choice of venue for the event. Conveniently located one mile from the San Francisco Airport, the hotel is “lovely and cozy—perfect for hosting a boutique-size fair,” says Jennifer. Candidate Ataya G. commented:
Overall, I loved how the fair was organized. It was user friendly and easy to network with other candidates and recruiters. Since the fair was smaller, it was a great way to connect in a personal way. I would highly recommend it to any prospective candidates!
Search San Francisco is known as the friendly little fair where personal attention and access to advice makes that first leap overseas easier. In addition to Jennifer and Bob. the assistance of Search Associates Peter and Janelle Smyth of the U.K. South office; Dr. Brent Mutsch, Senior Consultant; and Julie Ryan, retired Senior Consultant ensured that all participants would experience the personal touch for which Search Associates (SEARCH) is famous. Candidate Tonya K. exclaimed,
It was wonderful to meet the knowledgeable and professional Search Associates team in person. I am so glad to be part of this organization!

Search San Franciso invited participants to three special workshops: “Interview Tips for Success” by Julie Ryan; “Moving Overseas and Loving it!” by Jim Albers, Executive Assistant in SEARCH’s West Coast office; and “Aspiring Leaders” by Dr. Brent Mutsch. Candidate Emily R. had this to say:
The job fair was a great use of my time. Getting to meet schools in person, attend the information sessions, and meet and interview with school staff allowed me to connect with schools on a level that is not possible online. I would highly recommend going to a fair if you are able too!
Search Associates is proud to offer annual job fairs, each unique and held in locations around the world throughout the year. Don’t miss a chance to expand your horizons!
