Search Associates is proud to represent the Singapore International School (SIS) in Mumbai, India, established in 2007. SIS was designed as a green haven, located on eight acres away from the busy stream of city life. The school is located in the northern suburbs of Mumbai, very close to the Sanjay Gandhi National Park and a 25-minute drive from the airport. SIS provides term, weekly, or day boarding in a co-educational experience that makes use of state-of-the-art facilities and equipment. The 5:1 student to teacher ratio promotes individualized learning, and since most of the teaching staff is residential, students have the opportunity to receive ongoing guidance and enrichment outside the classroom. Five hundred K-12 students are currently enrolled; 81% of them are Indian, with the remaining percent representing 10 nationalities. The teaching staff of 110 is mostly from India, and around 10% are expatriates from North America, U.K., Peru, France, Spain, Kenya, Mauritius, Costa Rica, and others.
SIS is accredited in India and by the College Board. Students study coursework following a series of curricular programs: the Primary Years Program (PYP), integrated with the Singapore curriculum and the Reggio Emilia approach; the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE); and the International Baccalaureate (IB) Program. From kindergarten to Grade 12, an emphasis is put on service to community through the IB program, Round Square, the International Award for Young People, and the Global Citizens Award program. The SIS experience is described as "A Savoury Blend of Academics, Highly Spiced with Arts, Sports, Service, and International Experiences."
SIS is hiring married and single teachers, with or without dependents, but not interns. The school emphasizes their desire to hire teachers with at least three to four years of experience in an international school. They will also consider outstanding certified teachers from non-English speaking countries. In India, individuals up to the age of 63 can obtain a work visa.
SIS's salary and benefits package would allow teachers to save quite a bit and allow a family of four to 'make do' on one salary. All visa costs are borne by the school. A housing and furniture allowance is provided per annum, in addition to a one-time settling in allowance. At the close of each academic year, the school awards teachers an economy round-trip airfare ticket. Finally, teachers are provided with local health insurance and the full tuition benefit for two children.
