Canggu Community School (CCS) is seeking an experienced Secondary Principal to lead our Year 7-13 program, starting in August 2025. CCS is a non-profit co-educational school enrolling students from Preschool to Year 13. Learning at CCS is focused on inquiry, student-led, facilitated by excellent teachers, and rooted in research-based best practices in international education. The CCS curriculum is grounded in inquiry and our definition of High Quality Learning. Inspired by best practice in international education and IBDP which is adapted to fit our unique context in Bali. Most importantly, we believe students learn best when they are empowered, confident, and part of a community. CCS is fully accredited by CIS and WASC and is authorized to offer the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program.

There are currently 650 students enrolled at the school, with about 307 in the Secondary School. Students at CCS come from over 40 nationalities. CCS employs 49 expatriate teachers (primarily a blend of Australian, UK, American, Canadian, and NZ educators with international experience) and over 50 Indonesian teachers, including highly-qualified teaching assistants.

The CCS campus is unique, a blend of modern learning spaces, Indonesian architecture and art, and Bali’s incredible natural beauty. The campus is covered in lush gardens, bordered by rice fields, with a river running through it. Facilities include numerous air-conditioned classrooms with open-air learning environments attached, science labs, music and art spaces, multifunction halls, sports fields and playgrounds, a yoga/meditation space, and a 25m swimming pool.

Location

Preferred Qualifications and Dispositions
Candidates with the following qualifications and dispositions will be considered:

  • Hold a minimum of a Master's degree in Education and at least five years' experience in a similar leadership position.

  • Be a highly visible ambassador for CCS, encouraging and advancing the CCS commitment to being a positive influence on our local and global community.

  • Build positive, productive relationships to maintain the trust and confidence of students, staff, parents, and the school community.

  • Experience with a systemic approach to effective communication and sound decision-making, understanding CCS's strengths while positively facilitating change and being able to make collaborative decisions in the best interests of students and the entire school community.

  • Embrace the school's strategic direction with Future Design School and provide visionary and strategic leadership to support growth and improvement while fostering a culture of accountability.

  • Act as an active learning leader with a commitment to inquiry-based learning and strong experience with an inquiry based approach or MYP and the IB Diploma Programme.

  • Demonstrated leadership of an established IB Diploma Programme, including balancing a focus on academics alongside student balance and well-being.

  • Be an advocate for each student achieving his/her full potential while valuing and supporting holistic student growth.

  • Have experience in developing/sustaining high-performing teams, building capacity, and whole school cultures.

  • Motivate, inspire, challenge, and support the development and learning of the full educational team as individuals and as a group.

  • Clearly communicate with all stakeholders in an effective, positive, solution-oriented, and timely manner.

  • Demonstrate a commitment to personal professional growth and development in line with current research in international education.

Applications will be reviewed as received. Short-listed candidates will be invited to a panel interview via Google Meets. The finalist candidates will be invited to the CCS campus for in-person interviews. The in-person interviews will involve key stakeholders, including students, employees, parents, and administration. The application deadline is July 31, 2024.

The role will commence on July 21, 2025.
